The course Slovene-German Translation III is an introduction to German-into-Slovene translation. Students are expected to refine their previously acquired basic translation strategies and adapt and apply them to more complex texts in terms of syntax and meaning; working with selected texts will enable them to identify and solve various translation problems. Through text analysis and text formation students are introduced to various text types and systematic differences between German and Slovene text types.
The course is aimed at improved comprehension of fairly complex Slovene and German texts featuring advanced syntax, ambiguity, metaphorical meaning, analogies, as well as cultural and historical references. Students still deal with general purpose texts of various genres featuring intermediate to advanced difficulty.

The seminar will enable the students to successfully use dictionaries and other desktop and web-based lexicographical tools. They are expected to present their homework translations to their colleagues, develop their skills through self-evaluation as well as criticism of work of others, which will enable them to scrutinize and evaluate available translation solutions and justify their own translation choices during translation from German into Slovene.
